President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike for taking steps towards protecting democracy in Nigeria.
Tinubu said Wike’s vision and commitment towards the construction of the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was commendable.
The president spoke during the flagging off of the construction of INEC’s headquarters in Abuja.
According to Tinubu: “By initiating this project, Wike has taken another important step towards the protection of our democracy in this country, i say that you very much.
“I salute your vision and commitment towards the progress and development of our country.
“Let me also take this moment to commend the entire leadership of the FCDA, let me once again commend the leadership of INEC for their dedication to face the challenge that is necessary and the courage to lay a stronger foundation for our democracy.
“To the contractors supervising and stakeholders involved in this project, let quality, speed, and integrity speak and guide your work because you are not just building an edifice but trust in our nation.
“To all Nigerians, I say that democracy is not a destination but a journey. Together let us strengthen our institution and safeguard our freedom and protect the future.”
