Prince Aondona Isaka Ornguga, a former Senior Special Assistant to ex-governor Samuel Ortom on Local Government Administration, has revealed the devastating loss of 23 family members in the recent attacks in Benue State.
Ornguga initially took to Facebook to report that he had lost over 15 family members.
He has now revealed that a total of 23 family members died in the massacre, all of whom were related to him through his maternal lineage.
His latest Facebook post read, “Finally I have gotten my own share of the Fulani herders attack, I lost over 15 members from my maternal family at yesterday night’s Yelewata attack.
“My family alone lost over 23 members and our governor is claiming that only 59 died. What is the governor hiding from us?”
Ornguga further disclosed that he had spoken to two of the victims, Victor Utim and Mathew Iormba, just weeks before the attack.
“I spoke with two of the victims – Victor Utim and Mathew Iormba – about three weeks ago. They are my first cousins from Tse Tarbee, my mother’s village. Utim just wrote JAMB, and we were working on getting admission for him. Iormba told me he went to check his business around there.
“Iormba was a pharmacist. He had a tall dream, but look at how it all ended for them. And for Utim, this is not what we discussed,” Ornguga lamented.
Ornguga expressed deep sorrow and worry over the unending killings in the state.
