Alonso decides Real Madrid’s main corner-kick taker

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has decided that summer signing Trent Alexander-Arnold will be his side’s main corner-kick taker, particularly from the right side, for the 2025/26 season, Diario AS reports.

Alexander-Arnold joined Real Madrid as a free agent after opting not to renew his contract with the Premier League champions.

The 26-year-old was handed the number 12 shirt, previously worn by Marcelo, following his arrival at the Spanish club earlier this month.

The England international is set to compete with veteran defender Dani Carvajal for the starting role at right-back in Alonso’s team.

He is part of Alonso’s squad currently participating in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

Meanwhile, tennis star Carlos Alcaraz has tipped Alexander-Arnold to thrive at the Santiago Bernabéu.

“Huge respect to Trent. I’m pretty sure he is going to be the best RB in the world,” Alcaraz said.
