Yelewata Killings: Reevaluate your strategy around Benue-Nasarawa corridor – Saraki to security agents

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has charged security agencies to immediately re-evaluate their strategy around the Benue-Nasarawa corridor.

Saraki made the call following the killings of residents in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

Over 200 victims has been killed in Yelewata community, Guma Local Government Area, in the last few days.

Reacting to the unceasing violence, the former Senate President charged security agencies to ensure that perpetrators of the heinous acts are brought to justice.

Posting on X, Saraki wrote: “What happened in Yelewata is tragic, terrifying, and unacceptable.

“Over 200 people were burned alive, butchered, and ambushed in a coordinated night attack. In a second attack, soldiers were killed while trying to respond.

“The cruellest detail is that the majority of the victims were IDPs. They had already fled their ancestral homes, seeking refuge, only for that terror to hunt them down in a place of supposed safety.

“I urge the security agencies to immediately re-evaluate the security strategy for the Benue-Nasarawa corridor and the wider North Central region. The perpetrators of this heinous act must be brought to justice.

“I extend my deepest condolences to Governor Hyacinth Alia and the entire people of Benue State.”
