Governor Fintiri approves committee to check drug abuse in Adamawa

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has approved a state-level committee to curb drug abuse.

The Committee, headed by the state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, is to complement the efforts of the federal anti-drug unit, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

The Deputy Governor disclosed Fintiri’s approval of the committee on Sunday during a special church service in honour of the departing Commandant of the NDLEA in Adamawa State, Samson Agboalu.

“Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has approved a Drug Control Committee to ensure zero tolerance for drug abuse in the state,” Farauta said.

Asserting that the government would leave no stone unturned in curbing the menace of drug abuse, Farauta insisted on the need for a drug-free society.

Professor Farauta made the remark at the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries church in Yola where Agbaolu’s Thanksgiving service took place, saying, “We must train our children to take over leadership from us as good citizens.”

She thanked Agboalu for his services to the state and wished him well in his future endeavors.

Earlier in his remark, Agboalu said the establishment of the drug control committee and constitution of Ngurore-Numan checkpoint has reduced robbery and drug trafficking in the state.

The Regional Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Pastor Osita Egbebuike who presided over the service, encouraged the congregation to serve God faithfully, giving material support to the church and to humanity.
