Workers paralyse activities at federal Secretariat in Ibadan

Workers in the employment of federal government of Nigeria on Wednesday, paralysed activities at the federal secretariat in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Workers who arrived at the secretariat in the early hours of Wednesday, shut down the gates of the secretariat and prevented all visitors and other staff in the secretariat from gaining access to the premises.

They carried various placards with inscriptions, calling the federal government to answer their prayers.

National Coordinator of Federal Workers Forum, FWF, Andrew Emelieze, while speaking noted that the workers will not cease to protest until their demands are met.

He maintained that they will continue to shut the gates until their demands are met.

Emelieze while speaking with DAILY POST noted that the demands of the workers include immediate payment of their five-month wage award arrears.

“The Immediate payment of outstanding five months wage award arrears. The implementation of 40% peculiar allowance and the payment of its arrears.

“The immediate review of the heavy taxation of the federal workers’ poor wage. The upward review of the new national minimum wage.

“The payment of cost of living allowance to all federal government workers”.
