A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ayodele Fayose has declared that Governor Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti will complete his second tenure.
Fayose said Ekiti State will only get a new governor after 2030 when Oyebanji has completed his second tenure.
Featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday evening, Fayose said nobody can defeat Oyebanji in the upcoming governorship election in Ekiti State.
The former governor of Ekiti State assured Oyebanji of winning in all the 177 wards across the state in the next governorship election.
According to Fayose: “I know Ekiti more than anybody among them, the only person that is my senior in the politics of Ekiti State is Niyi Adebayo, Fayemi follows me. I was governor before Segun Oni.
“In Ekiti, if we want to have peace and not come here to be deceiving anybody, there is nobody that will defeat Abiodun Oyebanji, let’s forget his party.
“I didn’t mention APC here, go to the state you can see. There are four governors that have been at one time or the other; Adebayo, myself, Fayemi, and Segun Oni.
“I want to tell you that the four of us are supporting governor Oyebanji. Anyone among us that is saying Fayose is lying should come out, so tell me how an election can be won without the four of us.
“Today, I don’t know how God has helped Oyebanji but I want to tell you that he will win in all the wards – there are 177 wards – and he will win, he will win my ward.
“My brother can contest but let him get the ticket of PDP first, then he will come back to the family so let’s leave that one for now.
“Listen again, Niyi Adebayo is from the Central, in actual fact, he is from the same local government as myself; the Majority Leader of the Senate, Opeyemi Bamidele is from the same local government with me, the current governor is from the same tribe where Adebayo comes from, so my hometown will still produce another governor and other people will be looking as ‘mumu?’
“Remember that I was the first person that pushed a Southern candidate through professor Eleka. For now, tomorrow is still far, let me leave at that. I’m a supporter of the governor because he is performing, he has good human relations, he respects us and politics is about the people and leadership, we influence the people to do what they want.
“Anybody who wants to contest in Ekiti now should come after 2030, forget about any party you come from, until 2030 – Oyebanji has won this election.”
