In another round of cabinet reshuffling, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has redeployed Barrister Isaac Danladi to the Ministry of Justice as the new Commissioner and Attorney-General of the state.
Danladi, who previously headed the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, officially assumed duties at the Ministry of Justice on Thursday, taking over from Barrister Hauwa Samuel Jugbo, who has now been posted to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Humanitarian Services.
The latest redeployments, which affected three commissioners, are part of what the government described as a “minor cabinet shake-up” aimed at enhancing efficiency and improving service delivery across the state.
As part of the changes, Princess Margaret Itake Elayo, the former Commissioner for Women Affairs and Humanitarian Services, has been moved to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
The shake-up has generated mixed reactions among residents, especially at the grassroots level, where frustrations continue to grow over persistent infrastructural and developmental challenges.
Critics argue that while the state continues to receive improved federal allocations, the glaring absence of basic amenities—particularly potable water—remains a major concern for many communities.
Residents of rural areas such as Ashigogo and Gidan Waya in Lafia and Nasarawa Eggon local government areas have decried the lack of clean water, describing it as a longstanding failure that continues to impact their daily lives.
Recall that in July 2019, Governor Sule inaugurated a seven-man committee led by Professor Abdulkarim Kana to address the issue of water supply in the state. At the time, the governor had assured citizens of his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises.
“Water supply was one of the things I promised to deliver during my campaign and I will do everything possible to fulfill the promise,” Governor Sule had said during the committee’s inauguration.
However, nearly six years later, the situation has seen little improvement, fueling skepticism among residents who now view such cabinet changes as superficial unless accompanied by tangible results.
