The Abia State government has announced the arrest of a facility manager and two workers of the Aba Textile Mill for stealing company property.
Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu made the disclosure at Government House, Umuahia, on Monday while briefing journalists on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting.
He warned that those who steal or vandalize government property would face the wrath of the law, adding that the arrested manager and his accomplices are presently in detention.
Kanu announced that the second term anniversary of Governor Alex Otti in office would not be celebrated as a jamboree, saying that the period would only be used to take stock of achievements and the tasks ahead.
“So rather than just roll out the drums to just celebrate, it will be a period of stock taking, some form of mid term review of the achievements, the highs and lows of the state government,” the commissioner said.
He added that some completed roads would be commissioned and new ones flagged off even as he said that a vocational and skills acquisition centre in Mgbarakuma Ubakala, which is rotting away, would be refurbished by the state government.
