The Head of the UN’s Humanitarian Affairs Bureau, Tom Fletcher, has reacted to the dreadful news of Israel’s deadly attacks on Gaza.
Fletcher, in a tweet on X on Tuesday, called on everyone with influence to stop the attacks.
“Our humanitarians have done everything possible to save as many lives as we could in Gaza. Immense suffering among survivors. And now this,” Fletcher said on X.
“Everyone with influence must insist this stop.”
Recall that the Israeli military had earlier stated that it hit targets across Gaza early on Tuesday, ending a weeks-long standoff over extending the ceasefire that halted fighting between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas in January.
The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza later reported that no fewer than 326 people were dead.
The number is expected to rise in the coming hours as many remain under the rubble of bombarded buildings.
According to the Health Ministry, strikes were reported in multiple locations, including northern Gaza, Gaza City, and Deir al-Balah, Khan Younis, and Rafah in the central and southern Gaza Strip.
