Iran is not pushing for war but will fight back if provoked, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has declared.
The United States is discouraging the Islamic Republic from furthering its nuclear weapons development and warning of serious consequences.
In a post on X, 85-year-old Khamenei stated that “war isn’t good,” while cautioning America and its allies against any offensive.
“We’re not seeking to start a war,” the leader wrote. “But if someone takes any action, the response from us will be firm and definite.”
Another post reads: “If the US and their agents make a wrong military move against Iran, they’ll be the ones who will suffer the greatest loss.”
President Donald Trump dispatched a letter to Tehran regarding its nuclear program after the Department of State announced new sanctions amid a “maximum pressure” campaign.
At the Oval Office last week, Trump commented on Iran’s nuclear buildup, saying, “I’d rather see a peace deal than the other, but the other will solve the problem.”
“We have a situation with Iran, and something’s going to happen very soon,” Trump hinted, following reports of Iran’s uranium enrichment.
