A relief fund of N100 million from the House of Representatives has been officially received by the Niger State Government, dedicated to supporting the victims of the tragic Diko Junction petrol tanker explosion in Gurara LGA of the state.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, during the formal presentation at the Niger State liaison office in Abuja, handed over 10 cheques of N10 million each to the State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago.
The governor expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the generous contribution, saying that it reflects a deep sense of compassion and commitment toward the affected victims and their families.
Bago assured that the funds would be effectively channeled to support the families affected by the unfortunate incident through the Niger State Disaster Management Fund.
Speaker Abbas, in his remarks, stated that this donation fulfills a promise made during a condolence visit to the Niger State Government following the devastating fire disaster that resulted in the loss of several lives, injuries to many others, and significant property damage.
While acknowledging that the financial assistance may not completely address the needs of those affected, the Speaker affirmed that it symbolizes the House of Representatives’ enduring love and concern for people in distress.
He reiterated the commitment of the House to collaborate with the state government and provide ongoing support to the community in times of hardship.
