Paris Saint-Germain manager, Luis Enrique has suggested that goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma helped his team to beat Liverpool in the Champions League Round of 16 second leg tie on Tuesday.
Donnarumma was impressive during the encounter as he made crucial saves to deny spot-kicks from Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones after the match ended in a 1-1 draw aggregate.
The match ended 1-0 in favour of PSG after 120 minutes at Anfield, thanks to Ousmane Dembele’s goal.
Liverpool had won by the same scoreline last week at the Parc des Princes in Paris.
Speaking after the game, Erinque said Donnarumma’s two saves gave PSG the victory.
“We showed that we are a real team. Is this team at its maximum? No. It’s only the start. I think that our mentality is to be better,” Luis Enrique told Canal Plus at his post-match interview.
“Today, it was a very difficult match. I think Liverpool are a very good team and it was very difficult to keep the ball but with the mentality and the personality, especially Gigio [Gianluigi Donarumma, who saved two penalties in the shoot-out] we managed to win the match.
“We need to rest, recuperate, and continue the party,” he added.
PSG will now face Marseille in their next game in the French Ligue 1 clash on Sunday.
