Qur’an recitation champion, family abducted by bandits after meeting with Gov Dikko

Armed bandits have abducted Abdulsalam Rabi’u Faskari, a celebrated Qur’an recitation champion, along with his father and brothers near Labin Bangori, Katsina State.

Security analyst Bakatsine reported the incident on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, raising concerns over the growing insecurity in the region.

The attack occurred on Tuesday evening as the family was returning home after Rabi’u was honored by Governor Dikko Radda for his recent achievement at the 39th National Qur’anic Recitation Competition in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

Rabi’u, a medical student at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, secured the first position in the prestigious third category (male) for memorizing 60 Hizbs of the Glorious Qur’an.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement on efforts to secure the victims’ release.
