EPL: Gary Neville urged to consider replacing Amorim at Man Utd

Former Match of the Day host, Des Lynam has urged Manchester United legend, Gary Neville to consider a remarkable return to management to replace manager Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.

Lynam believes Neville remains the best man for the Man United job despite his last managerial post ending in March 2016.

Man United remain in 13th position in the Premier League table ahead of their match with Fulham on Sunday.

Their current manager, Amorim admitted few a days ago that his current team may be one of the worst in the club’s 147-year history.

However, Lynam believes Neville can turn the club’s fortunes around.

“Neville would still be the best man for the job,” he wrote in a column for The Telegraph.

“He has Manchester United blood running through his veins. He is deeply hurt by the club’s present predicament.

“He has a powerful personality and would be a strong presence in the dressing room.

“My plea to him was over three years ago but as the men with their furrowed brows took their temporary residence in the United dugout, Neville has remained the best candidate, in my mind.”

Neville, a Sky Sports pundit, retired as a professional footballer back in 2011.

The 49-year-old spent four years working as a coach with Roy Hodgson’s England side before accepting an offer to manage Spanish LaLiga club Valencia.

His spell in charge of Valencia saw him win just three of his 16 league games before he was sacked after less than four months in charge of the club.

The Englishman has since forged a successful career as a pundit and businessman.
