The Emir of Dutse, Muhammad Hamim Nuhu Sunusi, has been appointed as the Chancellor of Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila. The university’s founder, Abdulrahman Suleiman Kawu Sumaila, made the announcement during a presentation of the appointment letter at the Emir’s palace on Thursday.
Suleiman Kawu Sumaila highlighted that the Emir’s appointment was based on his exceptional leadership qualities and merits. He emphasized that the Emir’s leadership would help advance the university’s commitment to academic excellence and moral integrity.
In his acceptance speech, the Emir expressed gratitude for the appointment and assured the university community of his dedication to contributing to the institution’s growth. He also pledged to use his experience to promote both academic and infrastructural development at the university.
It is worth noting that in September 2021, Abdulrahman Suleiman Kawu Sumaila had also appointed the 14th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, as the university’s first Chancellor. Bayero was recently dethroned by Kano Sate NNPP government, the party in which Sumaila is a serving senator
