Adekimi Ojo, Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, has assured of cordial relationship with working journalists in the state.
He gave the assurance at an interactive session with journalists held at the police officers mess in Ilorin on Sunday.
Ojo also pledged a seamless channel of communication between the media and the police command in the effort to ensure free flow of information for journalists as the link between the police and the community.
Responding to issues raised by journalists at the session, the commissioner disclosed that the X- squad of the police command would be rejuvenated to monitor the conduct of officers and men of the command.
He explained that the parade of suspects by the police had been stopped in accordance with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, because, “they are assumed to be innocent until convicted by the law courts.”
Ojo urged the media to support the police in carrying out their constitutional responsibilities, asserting that the achievements of the command could only be relayed through the media to the public.
In attendance were top police officers and Divisional Police Officers, DPOs.
